53 LB spayed female Anatolian Shep x Great Pyr cross. Appx DOB June 2010.

This lively pup is playful, affectionate, has a VERY gentle nature. She is on the bottom of the pack order.
She snuggles in your lap. Walks OK on the leash, still learning. Is working on basic commands and knows how to sit to be fed.
Cookie is available as a companion/pet.

Smiley is the largest pup, with longer silky hair. She smiles in greetings, curly up her lips to greet you!

She is slightly aloof at first, but very friendly when she gets to know you. She is smart, learns quickly.

She is very mellow, likes to explore the yard, lays down by your feet to rest.

She has learned to sit for her food. She is still learning to walk on a leash.  She is available for adoption as a family companion/pet.

Sweetie is active, very SMART, and playful. She learns VERY fast.

She is the best guardian pup of the yard, ears and tail up, first to the fence to check out what is going on.

She has learned to sit for her food. She is coming along on leash training.

Sweetie is available for adoption as a family companion/pet.

Erol had his MRI yesterday and the results were normal.
Dr. Brofman at Carolina Vet Specialists consulted with a neurologist
and they diagnosed Erol as having an uncommon strain of Coonhound Paralysis.
This is a "good news/bad news" update:
The good news is his prognosis is good and he will hopefully make a full recovery.
The bad news is it may take months before he is able to walk again.
The good news is he has a great new foster home where he can recover
and receive the extra level of care that he will need.
The bad news is its 700 miles away.
Good news is we are very hopeful on being able to set up transport for him!
The bad news is his vet bill is very high but the good news is
we are about half way to raising the money we need to pay for it!

Right now Erol is still at the vet hospital bc his previous foster mom
is in the middle of a family crisis and she is unable to care for him.
The vet techs at the clinic are very nice and are taking good care of him.
He's off IV fluids now and his hospital care is down to $40 per day.
Erol is being hand fed and still has an appetite!
Considering all he's been through, he is doing as well as can be expected.

I will post updates as things progress.
Thank you all for your prayers and support!

Jake was taken into rescue after his family moved away and couldn't take him with them. His family told us he is about 9 months old and is an Anatolian mix. He is a great dog and he will make some lucky family a wonderful pet.

He is housebroken, crate trained, good with other dogs, and we were told he is good with kids but we don't have any kids around to find out. He has manners and knows how to act in the house along with in the car.

He will not get as big as most Anatolians, but he is still a good size boy. His weight is estimated to be about 75 lbs. He is currently be fostered in a home in Clovis New Mexico and we are willing to help with transport to get him to a wonderful forever home

The Adventures of Ayla

Back in June of this year we took in a litter of new born pups
just days after they were born.
The pups have all been adopted now and I wanted to share
a letter I received the other day from Karin, who adopted Ayla,
one of the female pups from this litter.
I enjoyed it so much I thought you all would enjoy it too.

she's a gutsy girl, stubborn as all get-out, funnier than funny and a complete love-muffin!
She's happy, healthy and extremely talented for such a young dog: in fact,
i'm considering renting her out to the archeology school at berkeley for excavation duties:
she is VERY good!!!
she also has office skills that i discovered one morning
when she got up before me to open the mail.
 in addition,
she a skilled gardener: especially with houseplants: always pruning!
and her construction skills are coming along nicely:
she's very helpful, reports my carpenter who is working on my basement
to finish a room and a bathroom.
(its taking a little longer than anticipated... hmmmm)
short of my favourite (and only) cashmere sox (WAAAAAAAAAAA),
a pair of headphones and a dogbed,
she's not eaten anything (that i know of)
i attribute this to her extremely active social life:
at least once/day to an off-leash park, aka dog-spa, for a minimum 1 hour hike and full-body mud-mask;
in addition to 2 shorter walks per day,
going to work with me at least 2/week and
going for 2+ hr hikes with my friend tanja and her pack
 (min. 8 shepherds) 2/week.
of course on weekends we do 'special' outings with other dogfriends,
for example getting completely lost in redwood park with jackie and oz (her brother)
and turning one-hr outings into 3 hr ones
so that's the status here.

Pretty Blanca is a 3 yo spayed female Akbash dog
who is in desperate need of a foster or adoption.
She is in good health, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
Blanca is friendly with people and good with kids as well.
She likes to play with other dogs and will do best with
a male dog that is medium to large size breed.
She is in a temporary spot right now
and spends all of her time in a kennel.
She would love to either find a foster or adoptive home
where she could be a part of the family
For more information please contact Janet Davis with Akbash Rescue

Snuggles was found as a stray, wandering the streets on her own.
She is at a shelter and is in desperate need of either a foster or adoptive home.
She has a sponsor willing to donate $150 to her vetting/care.
The shelter workers named her Snuggles because, well, she likes to snuggle.
She is calm and pays no attention to all of the barking dogs at the shelter.
She also knows how to walk on leash.

Snuggles is about 2 yrs old and she is either Akbash x Pyrenees
or white Anatolian x Pyrenees.
NASRN has no open fosters in the area.
If anyone can help
please contact Janet Davis with Akbash Rescue

Delta is a beautiful and sweet natured spayed female Anatolian Shepherd Dog.
Her appx DOB is 6/09.
She weighs about 80 pounds right now but still has
some growing to do.

Delta has a loving personality, very friendly and kind.
She seems to be housebroken, ignores cats and is waggy and submissive
with other dogs.
She will make a wonderful family companion dog
as she is very people oriented.

She did test mild positive for heartworm but she is not showing any
signs of the disease.
She is starting on the slow kill method this week, which is
a monthly dose of Ivomec for 12 months.
Its very low cost and has been extremely effective with all of our
other HW pos dogs.

is home for the holidays

Being involved with rescue can be very sad and frustrating.
Here's a little good news to try and balance out the bad news.
Quartermain was dumped in the shelter several months ago
bc he supposedly killed a chicken.
Soon after arriving in foster care he needed tplo surgery.
Being over 5 yrs old and having had this surgery
really stacked the deck against his chances of being adopted.
But somehow his foster mom, Shelley, with Dogs Only Inc in Little Rock
managed to find a loving home for Q-Man
who accepted him "as is".

Wishing you all the best Q-Man, you deserve it!
Unbelievably, this all came together in two hours!
We have a foster for all three girls in Phoenix
our Trans Coordinator, Beth, was able to find
a rescue person in Artesia who is going to pick up the girls tonight
and hold them till we set up a transport!!
I, for one, am doing the Happy Dog Dance!!
These girls are all in the shelter in Artesia NM and
are slated for death in the morning
We have nowhere for them to go in that short of time period.
if anyone can help, even short term, let us know!!

Meet Miss Daisy and her daughter, Buttercup

Daisy and several other Livestock Guardian Dogs came from OK with a herd of 100 goats.
It was a "buy 100 goats, get livestock guardian dogs for free" deal. The farmer who purchased them ended up selling all the goats and left the dogs without a job and
they were given away as free.

Daisy and her pups were rescued by a local woman who raises goats and is familiar with LGDs.
Daisy is now ready to find her "forever" home.
She is available for adoption along with her 7 mo female pup, Buttercup.
Both girls are very good guardian dogs. They are good with goats and sheep but Daisy is not good with poultry or cats.
They are friendly with people and will walk on a leash and know basic commands.

They are very bonded to one another and Buttercup has been tutored under her mother's guidance so they make a very good pair and deterrent to predators.

Centerville VA

Marcus, an extremely intelligent, athletic, and beautiful 2 year old, is looking for a forever home.
He came from Istanbul, Turkey, where a rescue group found him emaciated and ill.
Thanks to his foster care in the US, he is now in perfect health, with a gorgeous coat and amazing teeth.

He is loving, house-broken and crate-trained.
To manage his fear/aggression towards other dogs, Marcus received six weeks of individual training
and has proven highly trainable.
He still has aggression and dominance issues to work out, so Marcus would do best in the home of an experienced dog owner, with a fenced yard, and no other dogs or other animals.
He needs an owner who is prepared to act as his leader and he would do well with further training.
He easily walks on a leash and hardly ever barks.
Marcus has loads of energy and enjoys lots of play and exercise time.
He loves balls and toys that squeak.
He is truly a special dog who will reward his owner immeasurably for the time put into his care.
He is currently being fostered in Centerville, VA.

A little update on Erol, the sick and abused/neglected dog we pulled from a kill shelter
in South Carolina.

A huge thank you to all of the people that have donated
items and funds for Erol's care.
He has had several orders of food donated as well as
two dog beds and gift cards to foster mom for his care.

He is doing better, little by little but he still has a long road ahead of him.
He has no interest in getting up and walking around but he is eating well
so we are hopeful his strength is improving.
He's still not drinking a lot but foster mom provides liquid with each meal
to help him stay hydrated.

Nearly all of his teeth are broken at the gum line.
He does have a couple of his back teeth and part of one of his
canine teeth is intact.
Heaven only knows what this boy has been through.
He's afraid of men but is comfortable with letting
ladies pet him and handle him.

As he regains his strength we would LOVE to be able
to move him into a foster (or adoptive) home
where he will have more one on one attention and be
in more of a home setting.
His current foster mom is providing good care but he's not in
a home setting.

Thank you to everyone for the prayers and well wishes
as well as everyone that has donated to his care.
I will continue to keep you all updated on his progress.
