Ranger and his kids
History of the Ranger Memorial Fundraiser
N.A.S.R.N
NASRN was started by Carleen back in September 2000. The group happened rather accidentally but the dog that started all of it was Carleen's dog, Ranger. Ranger was an "old school" Anatolian with a very dominant, primitive personality. His adolescent years were a struggle and Carleen had a difficult time finding resources to help her deal with everything Ranger was throwing at her. In her search for help she discovered that she was not alone and there were others who were in the same boat as she was with their Anatolians. What started out as a yahoogroups chat group ended up evolving into NASRN.
Sadly, Ranger passed away in 2007. Since then, we have had a fundraiser each year in his memory to raise enough funds to help NASRN continue to rescue dogs for another year.
Funds raised over the course of these two weeks will be the lifeblood of NASRN for the next 12 months.
- NASRN is the only breed specific Anatolian Shepherd rescue group in the United States.
- We are funded 100% by donations and are not supported by any state or federal funding
- We are not sanctioned by any groups, clubs or other organizations.
- Without donations, NASRN will cease to exist.
Adoption fees do not replenish the money that NASRN spends on each dog. Our adoption fees range between $150-$300. On average, it will cost $500 to vet a dog and have it ready for adoption. If the dog has to be boarded, the expense sky-rockets. Some dogs have other medical issues that require additional treatment and/or surgery which uses even more funding.
Right now, boarding is our biggest expense. There are so many Anatolians in TX shelters and we don't have enough foster homes to house them. Consequently, we pay to board dogs who are on death row in shelters or are living on the streets. We pay $15 per day, per dog. Our average monthly boarding bill is between $3,000-$4000.
Thank you for being a part of NASRN's rescue efforts to help save Anatolian Shepherd Dogs in need and to also promote responsible ownership and positive reinforcement training through their Owner Support Network.
